Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday declared that he will fulfil all the promises made to the people in the run-up to the general elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Jana Sena Party.

After assuming charge in his chambers at the Secretariat at Velagapudi at 4.41 pm as announced earlier, Naidu who was administered oath of office and secrecy along with his Ministerial colleagues by Governor Justice (retd) S Abdul Nazeer in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, said he signed files on mega District Selection Committee (DSC) for filling the posts of teachers, revocation of the controversial Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Act (APLTA) and increasing social security pension from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 per month. The pension, which will benefit an estimated 66 lakh people from lower strata of society, will be given with effect from April, the arrears will be disbursed along with the pension due to be paid on first of July. Under mega DSC, over 16,000 teachers will be recruited.

During the campaigning, Naidu had made several promises under what was known as Super Sixes.

The promises included free bus travel facility to women in RTC buses, payment of Rs 15,000 to parents for school-going children per annum without any cap on number of beneficiaries, free supply of three LPG cylinders, unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000, payment of Rs 15,000 per month for every women aged 21-59 and four lakh jobs for youth per year.

TDP State president K Atchan Naidu and other Ministerial colleagues, Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad and several senior bureaucrats were present when Naidu took charge in the Chief Minister’s chambers amid chanting of vedic hymns.

The Chief Minister also appended signature on files pertaining to revival of Anna Canteens, the supply of meals and tiffin at a subsidised price at designated places, which was abandoned after the Telugu Desam Party was voted out in 2019. He is also expected to clear the file on conducting skill census.

Naidu, who along with his family flew to Tirupati on Wednesday evening, had the darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala and Sri Padmavathi Ammavari at Tiruchanur. On arrival at Gannavaram Airport here, he offered prayers to Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Indrakiladri HIlls and at other temples in the city. He proceeded to the Secretariat from his residence at Undavalli.

All throughout the Seed Access Road from his residence to the Secretariat, farmers, who fought against trifurcation of capital, greeted Naidu with flowers and bouquets. They offered a huge garland by engaging a crane.

The Secretariat employees also rolled out a red carpet welcome to the Chief Minister. On arrival, he along with his Bhuvaneswari were greeted traditionally.
